71st and Center Easter Seals Kindcare Southeastern Wisconsin has purchased the property at 7111 West Center Street, which was developed in a partnership between the City, WEDC, and Wauwatosa-based Spectrum Development. Easter Seals will conclude construction of the building's interior and provide adult day services to individuals with disabilities and special needs at this location.
Easter Seals will use most of the 5,500 square foot building, and is in the process of negotiating a lease with an end-user for the balance of the structure. As Easter Seals serves primarily low-to-moderate income individuals, they will qualify for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds originally offered for this property by WEDC.
Several years ago, this property was home to a blighted gas station and trailer storage. The City of Wauwatosa purchased the property and sold it to WEDC for redevelopment. WEDC sold the property to Wauwatosa-based Spectrum Development Group in 2005. Spectrum completed construction of the building and secured Easter Seals as the project's final owner. Easter Seals and the new structure are both welcome additions to this neighborhood.
WEDC would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project. |
