IL MITO ENOTECA CBI GRANT
In January 2007, WEDC awarded Il Mito Enoteca with a Commercial Building Improvement (CBI) Grant. Il Mito's owners have added a fresh appearance to the building at 6913 W. North Avenue. The restaurant has already become a welcome fixture within the neighborhood. WEDC thanks Il Mito for serving as a catalyst for likely future investment along East Town North Avenue. One great catalyst for the future of East Town North Avenue is the recent rehabilitation of a 15,000 s.f. office building at 6330 W. North Avenue. WEDC provided and administered a grant through the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to assist with the owner's rehabilitation efforts.
The 70-acre Burleigh Street Triangle was formerly home to the Roundy’s and Kohl’s food distribution warehouses. In 2005, WEDC commissioned the planning-firm Vandewalle & Associates to complete a basic market study and prepare conceptual redevelopment scenarios for the site. Teamed with the Kilduff Company, the firms developed two mixed-use alternatives for the property.
